World Day Against the Death Penalty – Annual Event

For the past four years, Catholics for Abolition in North Carolina has commemorated World Day Against the Death Penalty with various prayerful lead-ins to standing in peaceful protest outside Central Prison, while we join in solidarity with other abolitionists around the world.

We have not solidified our plans for this year, but CANC invites you to please mark your calendar and then stay tuned to find out our finalized plan for this important day. The time may shift a bit; however, 3:30 to 4:30 would then allow anyone who wants to attend Saturday evening Mass (5PM) at Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral – one mile west of the prison – can do so. It would be a fitting way to close this significant day.
