Someone I Love is on Death Row

Heavenly Father,
I think You are the only one who knows how I feel.
Your Beloved Son was condemned to death,
and I too love someone condemned to die.

How do I get through this sense of heaviness in my heart?
How do I feel less alone in my worry and shame?
How do I make others understand this person is important to me?
How do I live knowing my loved one will one day be executed?

Lord Jesus, please send people into my life who can support me in this cross I must carry.
Help me to remember your promise: “My yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Make my loved one’s burden lighter too,
by sending your grace to bring them comfort in their fears and anxieties.

I want my loved one to know your salvation.
I believe, with You, anything is possible!
Give us both the sure faith that You never leave us
and You forgive all
whenever we turn to You.
Amen.
